Ragunan Zoo

Ragunan Zoo Park is claimed as the biggest zoo park in Indonesia. The zoo has the most completed animal collections and the area is also very large. However, the management is very bad.

If you go there and you hope you will find the quit and pleasant place, prepare yourself to face the disappointment. From the gate, you will find so many informal traders and amateur photographers and it makes you inconvenience. Visitor facilities such as tracks and toilets are very poor as well.

Inside the zoo, you will face sleazy animal collections. Dirty stable, stressed animals and not well treatment make the zoo looks like a traditional market rather than a zoo park. Surprisingly, you will find children amusement centre which is very crowded and noised. Furthermore, you also will find dangdut show and some inappropriate activities.

Can you believe? When I visited the zoo, there are some people conducted “pengajian” with loudspeaker and they did some religion rituals also. The sound was very loud and it was making the animal stress and very annoying. Additionally, the visitors’ behaviour also makes me wistfully. They disposed garbage anywhere even though the trash bin in front of them. They were also feeding the animal even though it was not allowed by the management. I understand, it is because the majority of them are uneducated and low income people. So, the zoo is the only place for them to get recreation place because it has very cheap admission.

However, I think there are because the management is not seriously managing the zoo. They are not care about the animal life. They are only thinking about gain income to cover zoo’s expenditures. As the result, the animal is the victims of the mismanagement.

So, my recommendations are:
1. If you rich, you better don’t go there. Please find another zoo.
2. If you go there, please don’t hope too much. Just enjoy the zoo with its shortcomings.
3. Put the garbage in the bin to educate other visitors that clean is beautiful.
4. Bring your own lunch because the food’s price is very expensive and there is no cleanness guarantees
5. Don’t compare the zoo to other zoo park in the world. It is not appropriate and it is just like you compare apple to monkey.

The farmer and his horse

There is an old farmer who had an old horse for tilling his fields. One day the horse escaped into the hills and when all the farmer’s neighbors sympathized with the old man over his bad luck, the farmer replied, “Bad luck? Good luck? Who knows?”

A week later the horse returned with a herd of wild horses from the hills and this time the neighbours congratulated the farmer on his good luck. Then, when the farmer’s son was attempted to tame one of the wild horses, he fell of and broke his leg. Everyone thought this very bad luck. Not the farmer, whose only reaction was, “Bad luck? Good luck? Who knows?”

Some weeks later the army marched into the village and conscript every able-bodied youth they found there. When they sae the farmer’s son with his broken leg they let him off. Now was that good luck? Bad luck? Who knows?

I cite this story from the collection of twelve inspiring stories on my desk calendar that I got from someone I did not know. The desk calendar put in on my desk by someone. Firstly I think it is very not useful because I already have many calendars. I did not interest at all to the calendar even though there were some stories on that.

However, when I got bored with my routine jobs and intuitively red one of the story I found the story is very brace up. The value of the story makes me rethink to what I have done. Actually, there is nothing meaningless in life. Every job you do or every event you experience must have something wisdom on that.

So, why do we complain to something that we do not know what is the wisdom behind?

I think I am a careless person

I think I am a careless person, especially when I write the examination report. I noted at least three times I did the stupid actions when I made reports. I really shame to my Boss about that.

Firstly when I consigned a draft of preliminary audited report, I gave him the draft that really a raw draft audited report. In the draft, many silly mistakes I made such as error in sum the value and typewriting. So, the report shows as through that I am a stupid person because the narration on the report is very bad, not only because of the structure of the story but also in the selection of words. So, He rewrote a new report as the substitution report.

Secondly when He gave the corrected audited report to me and I must revise it as his notes. This time, I am really a careless person. I did not check and recheck the report before I gave back to him. There were so many corrections that I missed and he warned me to be a more careful person. Oh my God, this time I think he really thinks I am a stupid and careless person.

Thirdly when I changed contents of the report because I think I must more careful to write the contents. So, I changed some items and express the facts based on the documents. However, I think he was not approved and then He changed it back to the beginning. Well, I shame one more time.

I think the third reasons above give me the conclusion that whoever experienced the same events will have an impression that I am a stupid person. However, I must come up from this condition and I must believe that I can resolve this problem. Furthermore, I also must have positive thinking because some people say who are you is what you thinking.

The Golden Dome Mosque - Mesjid Kubah Emas

The Golden Dome Mosque (The Dian Al Mahri Masque)

The Dian Al Mahri Mosque also known as The Golden Dome Mosque has became phenomenon mosque in Indonesia since it officially open for the public. The name of the mosque is retrieved from the founder Mrs. Dian Al Mahri.

There are many gossips around the mosque not only because of the dome that is layered by the pure golden but also because of the founder. Nobody knows about her before. However, since she built the magnificent mosque, her name as famous as the mosque.

Some people told she is very rich because she has land in Brunei Darussalam that contains crude oil. So, she is become very rich because of that. While some people also said it is because her Arabian husband. Almost every Indonesian people think that Arabian people are very rich. So that, they guess she inherits million dollars from her husband. Nobody knows which story is true.

Alright, I don’t want to discuss too much about this matter. I am more concern about the beautiful of the mosque. So that, I visited the mosque couples weeks ago.

I and my sons were going to the mosque to proof the gossip that we have heard. Rode my motorcycle, I went to the mosque with big question. “Is that the gossip true?” Or “Is it as beautiful as people said?”

It took around 45 minutes from my home to the location in Depok area. Along the journey, I scrutinized the area that changes lots. Many years ago, this area was very shaded with fruit tress around. The street was in very good condition. Now it is very dry with shop buildings along the street. Additionally, dust and rubbish make the area getting worst.

Short story, I arrived on the location which is very crowded with the tourists. They came from many areas in Indonesia and uses coach to get there. Well, my first impression to this place was it has become the tourist destination. Some people took the pictures with the mosque as the background. While others amazed to the architecture of the mosque.

I walked in to the mosque. Inside the mosque, I amazed the beautiful of the mosque’s interior. Some people whispered that the interior is same as the interior of The Nabawi Mosque in Saudi Arabia. Well, it is as beautiful as the rumours I’ve heard.

After satisfied looked at the interior, I took some pictures to enshrine my memory with this mosque. Around the altar, some people did sunnah prayer while others red the holy qur’an. After I did Asar prayer, I exited to the mosque’s garden.

Again, I took some pictures and walked around the mosque to get the best spot for the pictures. Unfortunately, some people did the same activities so that it was very difficult to get best angle for photography. Furthermore, the weather was not good, cloudy and shower. However, it was not barred them to enjoy their activities.

It was almost dusk when I and my sons came back to our home. When I passed the exit street to the parking area, there are so many sellers along the street. The sell almost everything as the souvenirs, not only related to the mosque but also food and textile. For example dodol Garut, Taro or Moslems clothes.

Well, unique and very impressive for me. And my conclusion the mosque is the symbol of the glory of Islam. Even though the founder is very mysterious, I still admired her as the person who care about the glory of Islam.
